belkin-family-rockstar-4-port-usb-home-charger-1Modern people has more and more gadget and stuff to be charged regularly. Few years ago, many of us only need to charge one a phone, and maybe a laptop. Today, I need to regularly charge my phone, my tablet, my laptop, my step tracker, my smartwatch, my Bluetooth headphones, my e-reader and I suspect this list will only getting longer in the future. Another problem is the fact that some of these devices need different cables. While lightning cable will charge most of my Apple devices and micro-USB cable will charge many other devices, I particularly need to charge my Pebble Time Round smart-watch and my Fitbit One tracker. Both are using unique charging connection.

Since my work office has minimalist setup, it looks rather ugly to see a lot of chargers and cables hanging around. So I need a better solution to be able to quickly charge my devices without having to use multiple chargers. A while ago I was using The Coop Idea Jelly 5.1A charging station. Well, it works just fine but I decided to bring it home for my living-room charging station. So I need a replacement for my office. And that means it’s a good time to try something different. My choice goes to Belkin Family Rockstar 4 port USB home charger this time.

belkin-family-rockstar-4-port-usb-home-charger-2As the name suggests, Belkin Family Rockstar is a charger with 4 USB ports that only needs one cable to the power outlet. It is capable to deliver 27 W of power (5.4 Amp) so this is slightly more powerful than TCI charging station. It can automatically adjust deliver as needed, depending on which ports are currently being used.

Belkin Family Rockstar 4 port USB home charger looks solid, slightly bigger and heavier than my initial impression when looking at some pictures from review sites. The extra weight is actually a nice surprise because it helps to keep unit from moving too easily. Some other charging station has cable with added bulk. This product does not have that problem, The cable is just a (detachable) standard figure-8 cable. So far, it never gets to the point of unusually hot so I guess Belkin is doing a good job in designing its internals.

Overall, I’m quite happy with this purchase. A product that functions well, looks good without unnecessary issues. Definitely a keeper.
