New iOS7 features :
1. The new Control Center, really like this. Admittedly this looks similar from one of Android feature. Hopefully iOS can implement it better.
2. New Anti Theft feature. Previously when our iDevice is lost, all we can do is to track its location or wipe clean the data. Now we can prevent that phone from being reactivated again. Hopefully this will turn off a lot of thieves, they will only steal a beautiful non-functional brick.
3. Flat design. The new design looks better, looks futuristic.
4. Back gesture. Now there is a new gesture which will take us to the previous screen. Not sure if this is really useful as I always prefer to have “back” option displayed by the app design, not by hardware button or gesture, but this might be useful for older user.
5. Improvements of some default apps. Now this is very big for me, as I use most of iOS default apps, from Notes, Calendars, Tasks. I will even consider to use the built-in Weather app now.
6. iRadio… I will postpone my comment until I actually try this one.
7. Smarter Siri… it’s about time.
8. Intelligent multi tasking. I never really card about the interface of multi tasking, I just hope a better non-visible codes to make our apps perform better, more reliable, but without draining battery.
9. Improved Notification Center. I rarely open notification center, but this might excite some other users.
10. Improved Photo management and new Camera features. Might be useful for some people, not for me.
11. Blocking call and SMS from certain numbers. This might be a small feature, but very useful. Love it !
I have already been testing iOS7 on my iPhone 5 for the last 7 days. Being truthful I fell a little tepid regarding the whole experience. After many years of design innovation why have Apple decided to make their OS look like a poor relation of Microsoft’s Windows 8. On the other hand it seems to have borrowed heavily from Android. You can now swipe up to turn on/off WIFI, blue tooth, much like Android.To conclude I like: Newsstand, the built-in torch, screen transition, new compass user interface and email interface.
I don’t like: no mass erase function inside the mail program, it’s still message by message deletion. The pseudo windows interface and menu movement. The settings menu is a bit of a waste land of white space. Just like an aging married couple I am finding more faults with it as time goes on but I grow to like it the more time I devote to it.
