I always love neckband earbuds. This form factor allows me to listen to music when I want to, and leave my earbuds dangling on my neck when I want my ears to be free. When my old-and-trusty BeatsX stopped working, I knew I had to get a new wireless earbuds in neckband form. Beats Flex had replaced BeatsX for quite some time. These are basically improved BeatsX, but minus the wingtips that I love.
Being a product from Beats, these earbuds work smoothly with Apple devices. Sound quality is decent and microphone is really good. Well, sound quality is not as good as flagship Bose or Sony products, but more than sufficient for my use case of neckband earbuds: phone calls. Yes, in my opinion, neckband earbuds are particularly useful on days when I need to make multiple phone calls, but not consecutively. Having Beats Flex dangling on my neck means I can have my ears free when I don’t need the earbuds, but it constantly remind me to make the next phone calls.
Unlike my old BeatX, Flex does not have the tiny microphone-and-remote unit on one side. Battery, mic and controls are all located on the symmetrical bulk on both sides of the neckband. While I never had issue with mic-and-remote unit on BeatsX, apparently many customers think having completely symmetrical product is a good thing.
Easy and simple purchase, got when Flex was on sale. Not a mind-blowing purchase, just a simple earbuds that work as it should, and it quickly replaces my old BeatsX as my go-to earbuds for extended phone call sessions.
