mac-screenshotTaking screenshots in Mac OS X is easy, yet not everyone knows how to do that. There are 3 types of screenshots: whole screen, specific area and specific window.

To take screenshot of the entire desktop:
Press Command (⌘) – Shift – 3.
The screenshot image is saved to Desktop folder.

To take screenshot of specific area:
Press Command (⌘) – Shift – 4, then drag our mouse to select a rectangle area.
Holding Shift key while doing this will lock the vertical size (height) of the area, allowing us to concentrate on the width.
Holding Option key while doing this will create mirror effect to the area resizing.
Holding Space bar while doing this will allow us to move the selected area.
Press Esc to cancel.
The screenshot happens when we release our finger from the mouse button.
The result image is saved to Desktop folder.

To take screenshot of specific window:
Press Command (⌘) – Shift – 4, press Space bar, then move the mouse pointer over a window to highlight it.
The screenshot happens when we click the mouse on top of a window.
The result image is saved to Desktop folder.
This also works to take screenshot of a menu.

That’s all ! I hope it helps.
