energizer-2usb-charging-kit

Energizer 2USB Charging Kit is a set of wall charger and car charger, each provides 2 USB ports to charge our devices. It comes with a USB cable with 2 replaceable connectors, one of them is microUSB. This is an unplanned purchase for me, but $9 for a pack of wall charger and car chargers with dual ports are not a bad deal at all.

I already have a dual USB charger from Belkin that I purchased around 2 years ago. Compared to my Belkin charger, the wall charger from this Energizer set is so much lighter (only 41 gr) and smaller (5.5 x 4 x 2 cm). But does it mean that this Energizer charger is the better one? Not necessarily. My Belkin dual USB charger offers separate 10 W charging from each port. This Energizer dual USB charger can only provide 5 W charging shared between the 2 ports. It means, when we use it to charge 2 devices, each will get 2.5 W, which is only 25% from what can be supplied from my Belkin charger.

Out of curiosity, I tested this charger (the wall charger unit) to charge an iPhone 6 and an iPad Air 1 simultaneously. It does charge the iPhone 6 (slowly), but it does not charge the iPad, most probably because there is not enough power left after it needs to allocate 5W to the iPhone. I assume the car charger will give us similar result.

I do, however, have a specific use for this kind of “small” charger. I have a special table dedicated for all my chargers at home and this charger would be perfect for the cables to charge my Pebble smartwatch and FitBit One activity tracker. Both devices does not require huge charging power as much as a smartphone or a tablet and most of the time I only need to charge one of them. So it’s a perfect match with this charger.
